What is the Think Tank? It’s all of the UA’s tutoring and academic support programs under one roof!

The Think Tank at the Student Academic Learning Center is the new home of the Writing Center, Math and Science tutoring, Tier 1 and Second Language tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and Peer Mentoring.

The Tank provides both free and fee-based services to meet the diverse needs of all UA students.

Need help with what was covered in class or assigned for homework? This student-to-student FREE academic help is available during regularly scheduled blocks of time. The links below will reveal the tutoring schedule.

TUTORING BY APPOINTMENT

One-on-one appointments available for students who need more specialized, individual help. Fees are involved.

THE WRITING CENTER

Don’t stress over that big paper – we can help! Come by any afternoon for drop-in writing tutoring or make a free appointment with one of our Peer Tutors.

GROUP COURSE REVIEWS

Free, weekly one-hour study sessions. Peer Tutors work with groups of about 15-20 students to review course content, clarify assignments, identify potential test questions and provide general academic help.

STUDY SKILLS HELP

Feeling overwhelmed in general? Peer mentors are experienced undergraduate students familiar with the UA and available during drop-in hours to share successful academic practices. Get help with time management, note-taking, reading strategies, and exam preparation.

Need more specialized, individual support to learn how to best manage the demands of college? Our Learning Specialists are professional staff members and graduate students available by appointment to evaluate your academic strengths and weaknesses, and help you create a personal study plan.

Two Academic Specialists are available to conduct one-on-one, hourly appointments for a fee. These Graduate Assistants go beyond tutoring to help you identify potential problem areas in specific classes, discuss and prioritize assignments, apply note-taking and study strategies, and connect you to campus resources.

EXAM PREP SESSIONS

Don’t panic when preparing for that big midterm or final! Fee-based two-hour group exam preparation sessions are available for select classes.
