How do you decide what to study, when to study, and how to study?
Don’t worry. The Think Tank has a staff of learning experts who can give you the tools to study for virtually any type of class. From an informal conversation with one of our Peer Mentors to simply talk about what it’s like to be a first-year student, to a more-formal hourly appointment with our Graduate Assistants or professional staff to help you improve the way you approach math, science, or general studies classes—The Think Tank has you covered.

Please note that most tutors who tutor upper division courses are capable of tutoring lower-division courses, but not always the other way around.

We’ve all been there, and so have our peer mentors.
Peer Mentors are experienced, undergraduate students familiar with the UA who are available during drop-in hours to share successful academic practices as well as help you adapt to college. Peer Mentors can help you with time management, note-taking, reading strategies, and exam preparation, and they can also listen and help with those things that happen outside of your academic life.
Are you swamped yet? It’s ok for you to raise your hand and say, “help”.
And when you do, our Learning Specialists are professional staff members and graduate students who are available by-appointment to provide individualized support to help you balance the demands of college life.
Learning Specialists are experts at assessing your academic strengths and weaknesses to help you create a personal study plan that takes into account your habits: organization, time management, note-taking, reading strategies, and test-taking.
Most importantly, Learning Specialists are expert listeners who are trained to help you adjust to those things that happen outside of class, and that somehow get in the way of class.
Imagine having access to your own math or science specialist? What if you could meet with someone to figure out what exactly it is about College Algebra or Biology class that makes it so hard to figure out. Just think of how much better prepared you would be for class if someone actually taught you how to read a History companion textbook or an academic article?
Academic Specialists are content experts in their academic fields that will work one-on-one with you to help you succeed in the course of your choice. Math, Science, INDV, NATS, or TRAD—we have you covered.
Our Academic Specialists are graduate assistants who will help you identify potential problem areas in specific classes, discuss and prioritize assignments, as well as apply note-taking and course-specific study strategies. This is a fee-based service.
